Ravi Subramanian, an alumnus of IIM Bengaluru, has spent two decades working his way up the ladder of power in the adrenaline-pumping world of global banks in India. In 2008, his debut book' If God was a banker' won golden Quil Readers Choice award.

Review -
The first book I had read of Ravi Subramanian, was If God was a Banker. And I had realised that the writing style of the author is simple and easy to read. He tries to connect with the mind of his readers.
With this book, Ravi has tried to do something different by selecting to write about romance and the life of a successful author. Although the crux of the book is typical bollywood masala with a war between good and bad and ultimately good wins. Still he has been able to convey the complexities of the human emotions in a beautiful way. Each of the characters of Aditya, Maya and Sanjay are from our lives and well defined. At some point in our lives we might have met them or known about them from others.

Only the character of Shreya was different and little difficult to relate with. Shreya being the central character was too shallow. It was difficult to imagine her as so ambitious that she was ready to do anything to get what she wants, being a student and that too of a prestigious business school.

I found the storyline weak. The climax could have been better by not being so predictable. Would like Ravi to write something away from the glamor world of IIM and banks. And with strong women characters, which this book lacks. (Both Shreya and Maya were poles apart yet lacked strength)

The book is well paced and well written. On and all, it's an average book. I would like to recommend it to those who are going on a journey, if you find this book, you should grab it. Your time will be well spent.

Lucknow In All Its Glory

Entrenched in colors of Mughal glory, Lucknow is a city with a spectacular blend of both modern and historical. Although I may be living in another city, but if it comes to my favorite city then my heart will always belong to this city wherever I may go or live.

The ambience of Awadh has commonly been associated with the leisurely habits, etiquette, architecture, food and exiquisite traits - all a legacy of Nawabi culture. 

There has been a lot of changes over the years and now another attraction – its high rising flats and apartments, sprawling townships, malls, commercial and official complexes.

Drive in the city will give you the taste of both new and old. If you are history lover, you can drive through the narrow roads of old Lucknow and see Bada Imambara. This is a Shia shrine complex that includes a mosque, a baoli (step-well), and a bhul bhulaiya (labyrinth). If you want to see the newer traits of the city you just have to ganjing, a name given to roaming in the streets of Hazratganj where you will get to see all the big brands. Or you could go to gomti nagar and feel the comfort of driving through wider roads with the cool breeze from gomti river.

When you think on design of the city, then it has not been made in a structured fashion. The old part of the city with ornamental Mughal designed architectures will takes your breath away.The Awadhi Nawabs, known for their extravagant and lavish lifestyle, did not only gift the city magnificent monuments but also provided it with a delicious cuisine and beautiful embroidery style ‘Chikankari'.The intricately done work is restricted solely to Lucknow and is believed to be introduced by Noorjahan, the wife of Mughal king Jahangir. Traditionally done with a white thread over cloth pieces of pastel shades, chikankari is practiced since the time Awadhi rulers owned the city.

Lucknow is connected in all ways, be it by roads or Indian Railways or the airport. But another way in which the city is connected is by its people. If you get lost in the city, you just have to stop and ask anyone and you will get the answer in a polite manner.

Over the years Lucknow has grown with the latest development as well as has managed to preserve the spirit of the bygone days.

Keeping a baby's soft skin safe

The first time you hold your baby in your arms, a feeling comes that your life will never be the same again. Another human being is now dependent upon you. More than anything else, you want to be the best mother possible. And that means a lot of responsibilities. Right from feeding your baby to keeping him safe and sound from all the problems.

Newborn baby's skin is delicate and super-sensitive. And needs special care. Post 6 months when the baby starts on solids, tries to move and grabs everything in sight… and puts it in his mouth, skin care becomes all the more important.

Here are some tips to know when it comes to keeping your baby's skin safe.

Massage & Bath

A good massage helps keep baby's skin soft and smooth. It also helps in improving weight gain, aiding digestion, improving circulation and building baby's strong bones. After the massage, give him a bath with warm water, followed by drying and applying a good baby lotion.

Do trim your baby's nails every week. This is also an important thing to keep in mind in order to keep the baby's skin safe, as babies are prone to scratching themselves.

Diapering

Changing the diaper as soon as it is wet, will help prevent the baby from getting rashes. Before putting the new diaper, dry the area and put some powder or lotion over there. Most important do wash your hands before And after changing the diaper. Replacing a peed- or pooped-in diaper with a clean, dry one plays a key role in preventing diaper rash. That’s because when skin stays damp for too long, it becomes more susceptible to rash-raising enzymes. So even if your baby isn’t fussing for a change, change him anyway as soon as you know the diaper is wet or soiled. Even if you are using nappies.

Use the right diaper in terms of size and softness for your child

Weather

Keeping your baby warm is important, but babies can also get too warm. Dress your baby in layers so that you can shed or add layers as needed. 

With underdeveloped sweat glands, babies are very susceptible to heat rash. To prevent this, dress them in loose clothing and a hat to shield the sun.

In the winter, dry weather can harm Baby's skin, so place a cool mist humidifier in your nursery to keep the air moist. Just be sure to clean the humidifier regularly or it will develop mold. Also give your baby lots of water to stay hydrated during the cold, dry months.

Use only gentle baby products

Use skin-care products made especially for babies, such as fragrance-free and tear-free shampoos, bath gels,oils and lotions. With each one you use, be watchful of Baby's reaction in case he is allergic.

It's important to keep Baby's skin moisturized, so always have a supply of lotions around. 

Baby's Clothes

Comfort should be the top priority while dressing up your baby or purchasing clothes for him. Look for soft baby clothing with snaps and elastic. And its good to wash the new clothes before putting them on your baby for the first time.

Try washing baby's clothes separately and only use washing powder which is gentle and chemical free. Disinfect the clothes after the wash. Few drops of dettol will keep the clothes germ free always.

Right from the day my baby was born, I have been following the above things and using Pampers diapers and have been extremely satisfied with the results. Next month my baby will be one, and till now he has not got a single rash or skin problem. Touchwood !!
